Jerelle has shepherded the work of many of the best illustrators of our time. She also makes images, and a number of her drawings have appeared in The Times.
When her picture of a pregnant Karl Marx—Marx had an illegitimate child with the maid—was published, The Times’s top art boss said, “Couldn’t you have made him a little less pregnant?” That illustration went on to win the Art Directors’ Club Silver Award.
